Hypothermia Response“In from the Cold” is the goal of the Hypothermia Response Program – a joint effort of FACETS and Fairfax County Government, in cooperation with 17 churches and the Lamb Center of Fairfax. The specific objective is that there will be zero hypothermia deaths in Fairfax County. For 17 weeks during the winter of 2005-2006, 17 churches each provided a week of overnight lodging, food, love, prayers, and Christian fellowship for an average of about 75 guests per night. Next year’s program may differ in format, but the objective will be the same and the volunteer opportunities similar: leadership, meal and snack preparation, security, prayer support, and loving fellowship. Some volunteers will be needed overnight, but many opportunities require only a few hours’ commitment. Epiphany’s volunteers this past winter were unanimously blessed by the experience and are looking forward to next year. ContactLarry Pantzer |
